goetzpartners advised Treïs on the sale of its majority stake in the Cycleenergy Group
A consortium of Austrian investors, including INVEST AG, Industrieliegenschaftenverwaltung AG ("ILAG"), and, the management team has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Cycleenergy Holding GmbH ("Cycleenergy", "the Company")1, a biomass energy group with sites in Austria and Germany, from Treïs in a transaction that supports sustainable and regional energy production in Austria.
Cycleenergy specializes in decentralized energy solutions and currently operates four biomass power plants and three pellet plants which produce around 90,000 MWh of baseload green electricity. Cycleenergy supplies 65,000 households as well as businesses with approximately 200,000 tons of high-quality pellets, 100,000 MWh of heat, and 10,000 MWh of steam per year from renewable regional energy.
Treïs, a family-backed investment group focusing on sustainability, has been the Company's majority shareholder since 2011. During its 11 years of ownership, Treïs has invested in Cycleenergy to support its growth through the development of two new pellet plants in Austria and the acquisition of the Erndtebrück plant in Germany in 2020, delivering on the Company's strategy to become a sustainable energy solutions provider. The incoming investors are committed to the continuation and acceleration of this growth and the Company's development as a key sustainable energy player.
